Literally means.. Truth be told.. a book by actress Neena Gupta is a delight. She is honest & really wants to evaluate her life. What we love about her is she does not shy away from any affairs.
She has not written real names where necessary but has related just everything. It remains interesting from the word ..go! Her humble childhood, the strict middle class mother, her brother being the apple of their eye. Be it Delhi or any other city in India or for that matter any Asian mother would be the same!
Aspiration for the child to study & progress is universal. Her mother never liked her first marriage. She married very young. The wonderful part is when she meets him again after so many years she has no regrets & he is also comfortable with her. Now she has made a name for herself. Yet they meet as old friends!
This moving on with life is want makes it worth the read. Crying, mopping & gathering sympathy is not her nature. I had seen a few episodes of “Masaba, Masaba” & felt it to be different. Maybe I was just heady after seeing her after so many years.
The ‘Jaane bhi do Yaaro’ remains the cult film for all the new bies & also a clean comedy, dark albeit, dear for our loss. Bhakti Barve. She could dazzle on screen equally. Her ‘Ti Phulrani’ remains with us, forever.
The episode with Vivian is controlled & just there. He is a big part of her life. Will remain so.. But she is able to tell us about it freely & just enough for us.
Also her current husband Vivek appears suddenly & remains in the background. She is rightly gaga over Masaba, who has made a name for herself today.
