Thirty-Nine

Third & fourth episodes are a bit slow. At the end of the third one Son Ye Jin finishes telling her friend about her illness. It could have been faster. She has a whole range of emotions to go through.

Kim Ji hyun advances with her Chinatown president. As expected he has a girlfriend. But she doesn’t approve of his leaving the hotel job to start on his own.Kim Ji hyun’s mother has recovered from her cancer. But her friend is now suffering from fourth stage pancreatic cancer.

Jeon Mi-do had a nice trip to visit her parents. But the sad news devastated her. She hears of lee Moo saeng wanting divorce from his wife, yet her news is far worse. He has also learned of his son not being his. But he wants the custody.

From the word- heavily pregnant, his wife had appeared to be a pathetic character. Knowing he has a long going relationship she used him. She doesn’t even care for the child, which is hers. Talking to Mi-do , forcing her to end their relationship, all adds to our hating her for what she is. How can someone be so selfish??

Slowly as the layers come off, it is interesting to see how human mind works. He was hesitant to go all the way. If only he had… so many ifs, here. When Mi -do says ‘ If only you had been my significant other…’ with Son ye jin heads in & enters Chinatown.. we wish!! With all our hearts why things had to be so twisted…

What I liked about the show is that there is no pretense. Just raw emotions. People we can easily identify with. Real people who make mistakes, recover & go about their lives. Pick up themselves. Make an effort to ease the pain of their friends.

The end where the three friends decide to enjoy themselves & come upon Dr Kim who is sad. Just outside the nightclub where they had a great time & he did not! Watching his sister as a hostess, refusing to leave with him, is painful for the doting brother.
