It is a 2020 film. Directed by Max McGuire it is a story of two radio hosts Maggie & Jack. Natalie Hall, Olivier Renaud, Steve Cumyn & others make up the cast. Here ‘Magnolia’ is the cafe owned by their parents, where they work & business is not so good presently. So they decide to go live for the new year’s eve. It is filmed in Ottawa.
As the reviews say it is a love story, predictable. But the leads are to look out for. Their chemistry is something that keeps you hooked. Sometimes it is too simplistic. Like the final scene where after a year he proposes her with a ring. Her father has given his wife’s ring to him long back, what took so long?
As audience we expect more pace. But it entertains with it’s good looking actors & a not so complex story.
Suddenly remembered ‘Steel Magnolias’ the 1989 film. Just the ‘magnolia’ is common. An all women film with Sally Field, Julia Roberts. Shirley Maclaine & others.How a would-be mother turns to her girlfriends for strength, support & to celebrate the miracle of life. To see all the lovely ladies in a movie, fantastic!
