Girl Marathons

Why not? If it has the girls in mind we need to support it. Pooja Patel travelled alone from her village in Allahabad to Lucknow to participate in a marathon organised by Congress. She is a BA first year student who ended up winning a scooter as the first prize. With a minor hurdle of not knowing how to ride, she manged to return to her village triumphant!

Why do not accept the good things wholeheartedly?? Whatever the hidden agenda of the party if it is doing good to the girls why not appreciate it?? Future vote banks? Sure. They are getting educated, can’t they think on their own & then cast their vote?? If they like Priyanka Gandhi, so be it!

Despite the Bareilly incident of the stampede like situation, it is remarkable that the marathons have generated a positive response from the girls. Also the incident marks poor management but good participation!

At the Lucknow event, they gave away three scooters, 25 smart phones, 100 fitness bands & 1000 medals which is huge. By adapting to the situation & looking at the participation the prizes were increased. Good for the deserving girls!

The slogan ‘Ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon’ maybe too cliche but it worked. After years of not making the mark Priyanka Vadra has hit the bull’s eye.’ She is trying to create a vote bank above caste & religion. It is an experiment in Indian politics’ one office bearer said. When we see that the young voters are benefitted, why the unhappy faces ?

Launching it in Lucknow last month, Priyanka had pledged to field 40% women candidates. At her rallies she has been exhorting women to start thinking about their issues while rising above caste & religion. Kudos to her.

Making women think of themselves, a woman making an effort itself is appauldworthy. A nice start, indeed.
