6th Mental Health Film Festival was a treat to the viewers. On a lazy Sunday afternoon, from 4pm to 6.30 pm it is a real treat.
Watching the films back to back is a journey in itself. All of them have a strong message. To watch the end of the first & begin afresh was a task.
‘Hanging’ by Nick LeDonne shows a man having suicidal thoughts. He is in his house. He has thrown the family photograph on the ground & is surrounded by dark thoughts. First the abuses like idiot, loser, failure start & gradually he is drawn in the vertex.
The words are clearer first, later they start overlapping. A dark image rises to abuse. Continuous black clouds start emerging clouding his thinking. Then the noose is zeroed on. He begins to think of better memories when again dark thoughts appear.
The tussle in one’s mind has been depicted so well. Only sketches make us involved with the main character. Suddenly he thinks of fighting his demons. His thinking makes him look up. The screen blanks to light up again to two words… Hang ON!
