Into the 19th episode & all the knots are being unraveled. There remains very little for Dam-i to do & return to her normal life. So many aspire for the throne, crown or the power & the riches but a few also wish to be out, away from the palace. The atmosphere of looming danger, threat, mis behaviour, grudges take a toll.
In the palace of the ‘Last Empress’ the Emperor was cruel, unfaithful & yet in the end he is what we look forward to. Shin rok brings out all his remorse in the final scene & we wish wholeheartedly to forgive him. For all his sins!
Dam-i being a court lady & the royal tutor being the son of the Commander Jung was a match. Her being a King poses a problem. How high have these walls of class grown that we can watch but not interfere to fix it!
‘Love in the Moonlight’ or ‘The Rookie Historian..’ have the same class struggle. Park Bo Gum being the Prince cannot be with a commoner & Cha Eun woo being the Prince cannot marry the girl of his choice.
One of the basic right to choose the partner is being denied. Matrimony is to advance the ties with expansion of the territory. If you chance to like the partner it is a bonus. How could they live in a loveless marriage, I wonder! It is a given that one may start liking what one has, but it would be habit, comfort & not love!
After wrapping up the series, I plan to have an overview of the entire proceedings.
