It is an ongoing South Korean series.Directed by Kim Yoon jin with screenplay by Lee Na-eun. It stars Choi Woo shik, Kim Da mi, Kim Sung Cheol & Roh Jeong eul.
Right from the promotional poster it is fetching. It is a coming of age story of a couple who have broken up but are forced to come together again when a documentary they shot in high school goes viral. It premiered on 6th December & entered the race. The first slot is reserved for ‘The King’s Affection’ yet the first episode has generated interest!
Labelled ‘I know what you did last summer’ is creepy. But the filming in school does have it’s original movements. Now 29 years of age both have drifted apart & are not in touch.
It reminds of ‘Lovestruck in the City’ where 3 couples were in front of the camera & talked of their relationships. Better yet the best I suppose, ‘Reply 1988’ has them talking of their teen years, crushes, fears & tears.. I have never liked anything better. Maybe because I relate to 1988 better or have experienced the same pain of uncertainty! It was the same all over the world for the teenagers.. the rage of denims or power cuts, the scanty resources, the close knit neighbourhood!
Choi Woo shik is known for his role in ‘Parasite’. He is in ‘Rooftop prince’ & that drama had all favourite lead actors. So everybody is memorable. Kim Da mi became famous after her role in Seo joon’s ‘Itaewon class’. Immediately she is in a lead role in 2021.
Kim Sung cheol is best known for playing Kim Young cheol in the drama ‘Prison Playbook’. He starred in ‘Hospital Playlist’ in a cameo. Also in ‘Vincenzo’ & “Racket Boys’ in a cameo. He is Kim Ji woong in ‘Our Beloved Summer’.
