The King’s Affection

The Crown Prince has his hurdles cut out for him or her. The maternal grandfather continues to meddle in the state’s affairs. The King has high expectations. The Queen, the step mom wishes to have her son throned.

In the 9th episode & the Royal tutor is unable to suppress his growing feelings for the Prince. What is he thinking? The Chief Eunuch from Ming is cruel. He first cuts hair of Prince’s constant companion Kim. It reminds of the hair or plait cut in ‘The Tale of Nokdu’. Later Kim So hyun sports short hair. It looks stylish.

Later he sends his heavyweight bodyguard to fight with the Prince’s bodyguard. He is an excellent swordsman in Joseon but no match for the bodybuilder without his sword. He gets seriously injured. Looking at his injured form on the floor, the Prince goes & beats the Chief Eunuch bare handedly.

The Emperor scolds & says he is disappointed. The Prince is heartbroken & weeps silently. The Royal tutor comes to console him. The Prince treats all his staff of close members to drinks. Also gifts a box of candies to the Royal tutor the next day. To his chagrin all the tutors have been gifted with the same!!

Meanwhile the daughters of Minister of Personnel, Shin So-eun & Youngest daughter of the Minister of Military affairs come visiting to the palace. The Prince’s grandmother chances upon them & thinks of the Prince’s marriage. Walking on the grounds, Noh Ha kyung almost comes to the door of the secret hideout. The Prince holds her & guides her away. She now starts dreaming of becoming the Crown Princess!

Uncovering the secret of the Chief Eunuch, the Royal tutor gets injured. The Prince comes at the right time. They get a chance to fight together. Her cousin, Prince Hyun comes to save them. The Prince decides to forgive the Chief Eunuch & sends him away graciously. He travels back to Ming.

Now the Ming factor is gone but the Marriage ? How long that be averted? His close ones know he can’t marry but what about the elders??

The weave of the story from one episode to the other is so easy. The events flow continuously, logically & without a hitch! Good to see a drama with highest TRP & a sound storyline.
