Dhak dhakse dhadakna bhula de…

A song by Mohd. Rafi from the Hindi film ‘Aasha’ released in 1980. It featured Jeetendra, Reena Roy , rameshwari, Girish Karnad & others. This song picturised on Reena Roy & Jeetendra was a hit.

The lines further read as.. Mere dil ko piro ke payal me … Ghungroo bana de… Dhak dhakse Dhadakna Bhula de.. Chhan chhan se Chhanakna Sikha de.. It is a request to make his heart sing. The lyrics with the music makes it memorable.

Mujse bhale chandi ke button tere jo kurte pe tune lagaye … woh paas kitne mein door kitna kaise mujhe chain aaye.. Buttons on your kurta are closer to you than me, it makes me uncomfortable…

Is duniya mein ilzam jitne woh mere saar lag gaye hai… din raat undne ki sochta hai, is dil ko par lag gaye hai… is panchhi ko apna naino ke pinjare me basa de…

I am guilty of all the crimes…my heart has grown wings… I wish to fly… I request you to imprison it in the prison of your eyes.

The words send a shiver as we come across the beauty of the words. A lot is lost in translation but the tone set or the emotion never fails to reach.

Then in 1991, the Hindi film ‘Beta’ came with the Dhak dhak song. Dil dhak dhak karne laga… the most direct one till date. Picturised on the hit pair then, Madhuri Dixit & Anil Kapoor. The emotions are in the background, the physical demand is right there. The movie is much different than the song but the song became very popular then.

Gradually the finesse lost to the bold, beautiful, brazen & we got lost in the superficial, shiny & showy blitz.
