In the beautiful city of Chandigarh, taking morning walk is a delightful experience. For beauty & for peace a walk in the morning is beneficial. Caroline Rowett was on such walk when she was forcefully & deliberately on the back.It was motorcyclist who sped away in the darkness.
She felt hurt. What did he have to hit a grey-haired woman walking along the street early in the morning? What sort of threat did she pose to him??
‘Charity begins at home’ Don’t we teach our children to be respectful to the elders. None of the schools teach violence. Touch is a blessing. We pat, bless & use to hand to help out. But when a blessing is misused, what do we do??
Early marriages sprang from the idea of chastity. She is taken. But why?? Why can’t she have her identity?? Why should it be a male always. A father, husband or a son?? It is so deeply ingrained, the society views a woman differently if she is single, divorced or widowed. Why???
In the 21th century, age of Robotics when we are talking of AI, alas, the situation of women remains the same. Her “No” is yet to be understood & her body is not her is to be understood.
The age old beliefs make new ventures impossible. The child is sick, who takes a leave?? The child behaves improperly, who takes the blame or is blamed?? Why not both the parents , equally???
