The character that Kim Seon -ho plays in “Hometown Cha Cha Cha”. I first saw him in “You drive me crazy” His relationship with his female friend of 8 years was platonic. One day it changes & his bewilderment at his own feelings is something to see. I liked the easy way in which he portrays his emotions.
Later in ‘Start up’ he had no chance. He was destined to be the second lead when Nam Joo hyuk was there. But in a few scenes when the scales tipped to his side, I wondered if I have been reading it all wrong. Bae Suzy had him as her pen pal for 15 years & Nam Joo hyuk enters so late. But she chooses Nam Joo hyuk.
I saw ‘100 days my prince’ just in case & found that he has been doing his work diligently for years. But the recognition had eluded him. In ‘Good Manager’ it is Namkoong Min all the way. He overshadows everyone in every frame. So in ssspite of lot of good work, Kim was sidelined.
He got the Best emotive award in 2020.Along with Model star award. For ‘Start up ‘ he received the Most Popular award. The popularity & fan following skyrocketed after the show. Many fans believed Bae Suzy made the wrong choice. They forgot it is just a drama.
In 2021, he won Trend icon actor & The Male multitainer. For 2020 & 2021 he has won the Rookie award for Show/ Variety category & the Popularity award for 2 Days & 1 night. He has been riding the wave for last two years.
In 2017, for “Two Cops” he had The excellence award, actor in mon-tuesday drama. He was also the ‘Best new actor’. He had the good shows & the awards to show but the popularity he gained is fairly recent.
It goes to show good work never goes unnoticed. It is the right time & the right place now!! May his stars shine brighter & brighter.
