Hometown Cha Cha Cha

In the second episode, while talking to her friend on her phone, she talks about the people in the town. The mike is on, she is bad mouthing them. Actually not the people, it is just her anger at the situation in which she is stuck. Because there is no way out, at present, she directs it to the people around.

She finishes her call & comes out. They are staring. The silence is deafening. She realises something is wrong. Her big mouth has done it again! Chief Hong suggests delivering rice cakes to all. The visit gives her an idea how much she has hurt them.

Her friend from Seoul arrives, in tears. She has been betrayed by her boyfriend. She becomes her assistant. They start living together just like they had been doing in the past. Nobody is interested in the opening of her clinic.

Chief Hong asks her to change her outfit for jogging. The old ladies find it very objectionable. Settling in is going to be changing the attitude. This reminded me of ‘Dostana’ where Zeenat goes to the police station because of some goon whistling. Amitabh Bachchan, the policeman tells her to dress decently first.

The three old ladies are similar to the mountain ladies in “The contracted husband, Mr Oh”. The ladies decide if she is the right one for Mr Oh. A city dweller cannot fit in the wooden hut on top of the mountain. In “When the Camellia blooms” the ladies are suspicious of the single mother but the policeman’s mother is sympathetic towards her. She has brought up her son single handedly against all odds. Later on they form a nice, close group. They fight for her.

The ladies along with some old men in “Chocolate” are happy that she has found a handsome man for herself. They act as cupid for them. Bunch of people from the island in ‘Because it is my first life’ make kimchi along with her parents & have a field day with Lee min ki! It is an event to celebrate & assess the future son-in law.

The two children who made her pet the hedgehog in this drama reminds of the scene in ‘Was it Love?’. The lead’s daughter & her friend , Pa do’s son are close. They pet a dog & ask the SuKey bar owner, her mother’s friend to help them out. The children are so cute. Pil gu in ‘When the Camellia blooms’ is also one such child.
