Encounter

Also called ‘Boyfriend’ is a show that was on my list from ages. But it was not available on Netflix & I had been in a fix. I had searched the other platforms but when I saw the ad was I delighted!

The first episode has so much happening. It is a epilogue to the events to follow. Both Bo Gummy & Song Hye kyo are introduced in the first episode to us & they encounter each other in Cuba. On a beautiful beach that she had been attracted to from the hotel’s postcard.

It is a beautiful poem in place. It is so serene that we leave everything behind & only focus on the lead. They don’t talk much but are together. Nothing matters to us. If she is rich or he is a fruit sellers son … very rarely do we find a relationship so simple & pure.

With her being divorced & unhappy, heading to Cuba on a business trip, it is fate. He changes his table because of someone who cannot give up his usual seat. The car collides, the camera lens is broken & the future unleashed.

It is poetry in fluid. Sure. At the end of the second episode she discovers he is one of the new recruits in her establishment. That doesn’t bring distance in their friendship. The woman in red loses her heels to him & she has the leather chappals with her as a memory.

Donghwa hotels that she got from her in-laws as alimony. “Donghwa” means Fairy tale. It is going to be a fairy tale for us. Towards the end their photo is flashed on the net as ‘Secret date of the President’ the rest place where they enjoyed a bowl of Ramen becomes a most searched item.

The very rich are followed, trolled & live in a fish bowl. Now how they deal with the situation & proceed with their employer-employee relationship will be interesting.

It is third in viewership only next to ‘Hospital Playlist 2’ & ‘Mr Sunshine’ which are iconic. There is absolutely no surprise here. It is so well shot & executed, it deserves it! A ranking among the first five.
