A 2018 legal thriller starring Lee Joon-gi, Seo Yea-ji, Choi Min-soo, Lee Hye -young with others. It is set in the fictional city of Kisung which is described as lawless & corrupt. As A child he witnesses his mother , a human rights lawyer killed by gangsters. He is back in the city to avenge her death.
The whole scenario reminded me of ‘Vincenzo’. He removed his coat saying it is Italian & he doesn’t want it getting creezed. The coats of Vincenzo are Italian. He comes back to Seoul for the gold & meets his ailing mother.
In both the shows the lady is a lawyer. Seo Yea ji makes a feisty lawyer. She loses the case where the abused wife has murdered her husband. Her client gets 20 years in prison. She is enraged. The judge jeers her being a woman. She just hits him. So she is suspended, the law firm she works with fires her. She comes home to Kisung. Her father has a studio.
Jeon Yeo been is a lawyer with Babel & her father, also a lawyer is fighting for the masses. He is killed & she takes over his office. She leaves her job to continue her father’s work.
Vincenzo wants to raise the building to the ground to retrieve the gold in the basement. So he gets friendly with the inmates & joins the law firm there. Here in this show , Mr Bong has his childhood memories here. He takes up the gang of the loan sharks for himself. His motto is ‘conquering the law’
His firm is the ‘Lawless law firm’. I had been meaning to watch this show since ages. The fast action doesn’t disappoint. The female lead is also someone to look forward to. Her performance in ‘It’s okay to not be okay’ was phenomenal. In the first episode, she looks the same with her banter with him. Both are quick witted & their dialogues are interesting.
