Park Jae -Eon

As I sat to write on “Nevertheless” I thought this character is showing some progress. Till now he is just handsome, helpful & heartless. He doesn’t believe in dating & has no interest really in people.

Why does he become what he is today, is a good question. But he is changing. He has not broken off completely with his ex. If he is not the supportive type why does he rush off whenever she calls is a mystery. Many times it happens when he is with Na bi. Any lover would object to it.

He tries to win her over. It is more than her name.. Na bi which means Butterfly. The last episode had him visit the bar where they had met for the first time. She was nursing her drink. Trying to sort out her feelings after a hurtful break up. Another girl comes to sit in the vacant chair but he can only talk. His mind is else where.

The vacant seat beside the unfinished sculpture, covered in plastic sheet makes it more difficult. Bit na’s boyfriend then shares some titbits to guide him. He is himself at a loss. He likes her but doesn’t want to appear clingy.

He goes home to his butterflies but they provide him little solace. When he learns of Seol-ah having a spat with Na bi he knows what went wrong. Then he becomes restless. When his mother advises him to change, cherish & care for the things you like in life, he takes her advice.

He had decided to go with the friends on the field trip but after knowing that Nabi is not coming, he decides to go find her. The car helps him ride to the small fishing village that Na bi is staying at.

He has come at the right time before Na bi is won over by old sentiments & the adoring childhood friend. He is steadfast in his efforts. Sweet, shy, sensitive & not being pushy. The whirlwind of emotions that Nabi feels in Jae eon’s presence are missing. They are comfortable in each other’s company.

Scarred from the earlier relationship Nabi wants time to think & then decide what is right for her. But Park Jae eon seems to have made his choice. Now how deep are his emotions & will he go the extra mile for her remains to be seen.

Into the sixth episode & four more to go. It was slow to start, but now it is getting interesting for sure.
