A 2021 Indonesian film. It reads that sparks fly when a fashion blogger in Bali meets a talented shoemaker, it leads to question her commitment to her fiance, Deni. It runs for less than two hours & is delightful. It does not drag.
Knowing about cleansing ritual, traditional music, praying methods, the shaman who gives her a leaf to change her life, the goose feather that helps her… I liked all of it. The locations cry out to go there to enjoy the vacations, that we are craving for nowadays.
The sick mom & the money lent out by the rich family makes her consider the rich boy as a ‘suitable’ match. But he has another motive. The truth can’t be hidden for long. Before getting married she comes to know & the marriage is called off.
The shoemaker likes her & he never denies the attraction. But his mother fixes his marriage elsewhere. Tiara is a friend’s daughter with high ambitions. She is a typical business woman looking at only the profits.
The horoscopes not match according to their names. He suggests cleansing with 118 different spring waters. It is a task not easy to accomplish & in the meantime Saska & Rio discover the truth about their partners.
It is the usual rom-com but with a difference. The locales.. beautiful. The actors very natural. Their looks very Indian. Nadya Arina, Refal Hady, Giorgino Abraham make up the leads.
For ‘sorry’ they say ‘mafhi’, it feels so Indian. The Malaysian show, “Cinta Si Wedding Planner’ I had seen long back had many Hindi words. Here their pronunciations are very Hindi or Urdu. The greenery around reminds of Kerala, God’s own country. Use of banana leaves or flowers in food is so Indian, truly Asian!
I enjoyed it so much. Looking forward to more such short stories, that I can finish in a sitting.
