After finishing the two stories I took a break till sunday & then started with the third one. ‘Hungama Hai kyon Barpa” by Abhishek Chaubey. It is based on Satyajit ray’s “Barin Bhowmiker Byaram” translated as “Barin Bhowmick’s ailment.

It is about two people who meet on a train compartment. 10 years ago also they had met & Musafir Ali played by Manoj Bajpayee had stolen a gold watch of the fellow passenger. Aslam Baig is a wrestler turned sports journalist. Gajraj Rao makes us believe he is the one. He is on the rise & used this role to further his achievements.

Manoj is also not new on web. His ‘Family Man’ & its sequel are doing very well. As the poor singer who gets enchanted by the watch. The owner says it changed my fortune. So he steals it. But it has remained with him.

When they meet again, Musafir Ali is known & doing well for himself. His singing was good. But now he is popular due to his ghazals. This habit of his is old. He is a kleptomaniac. From toys to this watch he has progressed.

He confesses to his theft but Baig asks him to go & give it to a shop he knows.. which cleans the ruh! Cleaning the soul! There he comes across Dara Singh’s lost medal, given by Baig. Many articles of interest are displayed. Short stories of Satyajit Ray are on a table. Someone stole & gave it here!

The backdrop of Ghulam Ali’s ghazal.. Hangama hai kyon Barpa.. lends it a authentic base. Thodi si jo pi hai… The ghazal is lovely & the meaning… why are you so worked up over a little,small drink? … here it will be the object or thing… Just one toy, my friend had many… he defends.

It is the monkey clapping away.. the first toy he steals from his friend. Later many more … once it’s an error but later it’s a habit! Worth watching.
