As Kim Yoon shik is practicing with his bow, Lee Sun joon is getting bothered with the competition. He then takes him to the woods & ties his hands to the tree. His delicate shoulders will become strong , he believes. Later they race each other uphill. On the top he learns about breathing properly. To which he thinks he has been breathing since birth.
As they are talking Sun joon steps aside & Kim Yoon shik pulls him. They are in an embrace for a moment. After which Kim Yoon shik then takes his training seriously challenging the student body president. As he pulls the string to his bow, Sun Joon helps to take the bundle of hay farther than him & nearing the target. The beholders are now watching with awe. May not be a champion, but he has improved from zero.
They sit to eat when Moon jae gives her an apple. This doesn’t escape the sharp eyes of Gu Yong who is amused. The closeness between Yoon shik & Sujoon increases. Getting tired, she puts her head on his shoulder, who is reading next to her.
Moon Jae carries her from the Archery site to put her hands in a jar of alcohol. It will tighten her hands he says. Due to holding the bow for long she has a wound on her hands. She thanks him. Also for giving her that notch which helps her to hold the bow. He starts hiccuping. Gu Yong is nearby & smirks at the exchange. He concludes that there must be a girl nearby for him to hiccup so.
Moon jae points to the sister of the student body president. She has arrived along with her father. The brother dislikes their coming in unannounced. He has started treating the premises as his own territory. With his cronies by his side, he watches his sister giving her special smile to Sun joon. If he had lost the bet, how does his sister know him? If he had met her why did he lie that he had lost?? He was even ready to be washed with urine… that was his punishment!
KIm Yoon shik also looks upon the two with interest. It surmises that the girl is enamoured by him , he is aware but not interested. She cannot think of anything else but winning at the archery competition.
When faced with the student body president, she says she will be the champion. She will prove herself to be worthy of the confidence the King has shown in choosing him. The student body president is bemused by her confidence & remarks if she has caught on the infectious disease of being arrogant from her roommates!
The teacher is observing her silently. Another teacher appreciates that she has picked up well after not knowing how to hold the bow! He just says that let’s wait till the competition.
The competition which would prove a few points is getting interesting with so many variables that nobody thought of. The undercurrents make it unique. After so many period dramas that I have watched ,this has too many factors & twists that make it special. I am getting the idea why it was a path breaker!
