I finished the film today. I knew they meet in the end. And yet I watched it till the end. The old man dies & their letters are not delivered. Both miss each other. The year long exchange comes to an abrupt end.
The ritual has made their hearts fonder & they actually miss getting letters. The ‘Little Shrimp’ reads the old letters again & again. She wants at least one letter to reach her, saying that he is going to stop writing to her.
The ‘Professor’ wants her to declare that she is not going to write again. This is it. But the letters have been a solace & he admits that he has fallen in love with the unseen girl.
Both travel to London wishing to meet each other. They come to know about the old man’s death. They visit his tomb but miss each other in the crowd.
She comes to the address to give her last letter. She meets him there. She actually gives him the letter. He looks at the address & calls her ‘Shrimp?’ The expression on his face is priceless! She reacts with a sob & tears in her eyes.
They are walking the streets , talking with each other. The final scene is “Paisa Wasool’! All the toiling comes to an end.
I had liked the pair in the first movie. But this was it. They undergo too many hardships before meeting each other. Also their lives are too tough. But then that propels them to do good in life! It leaves you with a feel good feeling.
