Book of Love

Also titled’ Finding Mr Right 2′ is not as appealing as the first part. But I quickly found it & without wasting time started watching. Same lead pair but with a different story. April 2016 release.

They communicate with letters. They don’t even know each other’s name. But when the going gets tough, they automatically write about it. Seeking advice or just letting off steam.

She is in Macau, which earns six times more than Las Vegas on gambling. As the casino hostess she has a hard life. Daniel is a estate broker in Los Angeles, who migrated with his parents 2o years ago. Their divorce affected him & he is scared of commitment.

They come across an old book, 84 Charing Cross Road, which tells the story of New york writer Helene Hanff & her 20 year correspondence with British bookseller Frank Doel. His shop was at 84 Charing cross rd.

Mr Thomas is an elderly gentleman who enjoys matchmaking & re-directs the letters from Jiao & Daniel to each other. They are exchanging letters each believing the other to be a Chinese person in London.

Jiao incurs a large debt & accompanies a rich client, Mr Deng to Las Vegas to pay it off. Daniel befriends an elderly couple who own an old house that he wants to buy. So he tries to trick them into selling it to him. He takes them to Las Vegas for a vacation, as part of his plan. He crosses path with Jiao many times but neither knows how the other looks like.

The film opened to be a hit. It got the number one slot in collections. Later it did not do as well as the first part.

‘Sirf Tum’ translated as ‘Only You’ the 1999 Hindi film had the lead pair exchanging letters & meeting at the end of the movie. It was a remake of 1996 hit Tamil film ‘Kadhal Kottai’. It did well at the box office. It was shot in Nainital, Kerala & Houston.
