First on the list is Gong Yoo. May be ‘Coffee Prince’ or his chest with the sword from “Guardian: the lonely god” he remains, the shy boss or the warrior on field, the one & only one. To woo his lovely grandma he comes up with all schemes.
Not to forget the side kick so lovely, to project that he is gay. Also his feelings for the pretty girlfriend of his brother. He is totally human & proud of it. He dislikes that she is being ignored but knows he is just a friend or a brother-in-law in future! How many can handle such a complex character!
Then comes Jung Hae in. In ‘Something in the Rain’ as the younger brother of her friend he has to establish his love for her. To Son Ye jin’s question, ‘When did you come?’ the reply is pat. ‘While you were sleeping!’ The age difference makes a difference for the family to accept him but he does it wholeheartedly. Later he leaves for States without her because that is her choice! Coming to her brother’s marriage finds her boyfriend not treating her well. That makes him confront her again!
“One spring night” he cares for his son when he is abandoned by his mother. His commitment bowls you over. Han ji Min in a loveless relationship then comes to him & it ends like a fairy tale.
Third would be Hyun bin. It may be any show ‘Negotiation’ where your heart goes to the kidnaper. Standing tall & talking cleverly. Or the Captain in ‘Crash Landing on you’ just floors you with his innocence & the risk he is about to take. When he comes to South Korea you are on tender hooks because his fate when he returns is unthinkable!
Fourth will be Kim Woo bin. From “Heirs” if I treasure Lee Min Ho, then Woo bin is on a different level. They never become friends but how we wish all to be right for them ! Park Shin hye in another complex role shines throughout. His singer -actor in ‘Uncontrollably fond” constantly makes you pray that a miracle will cure him!
The last one & not the least, Lee Min ho who changed our lives with “Boys over Flowers”. When I see clips on Youtube it comes back again how I followed the drama & fell for it bigtime. Kim bum or Jan di .. all are just there. From his ‘The Legend of the blue sea’ to the latest ‘The King: the eternal Monarch’ he is fantastic. His costumes, acting, looks are in discussion along with a huge fan following. I admire the courage to take up a role rejected by many & making the most of it. Riding the hallyu wave , literally!
