The main villain of the famous film ‘Sholay’ remains with you for days together due to Amjad Khan’s portrayal. In 1975, ‘Ye Haath mujhe de de Thakur… ‘ along with the rest of the dialogues like ‘Arre O Samba..’ I had never paid attention to Mac Mohan before. Their characters made them cult figures then.
Today watching ‘Delhi Crime’ made me remember the bay guys I had seen earlier. They were bad but the crime in Delhi gives a Filthy feeling. I am watching an episode per day & for a week I am feeling as if I haven’t washed!
They completed the shoot in 62 days. More than two months Shefali Shah must have been with the character & she must have endured so much! Hats off. Her Piercing, Penetrating gaze across the screen hits you in the heart. If emoting is so difficult, I can now imagine how Ranvir Singh must have felt after completing his ‘Padmavat’!
Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gabbar..’ is much better but he must have toiled for his “Sangharsh” & more so Ashutosh Rana. How many buckets does he need after his portrayal? Only Renuka would know.
It is tough acting a sweet, sugary character but these bad guys are something else. We can at least close our eyes when a scene comes but those on screen have to be so brave!
