57th baeksang awards set an unusual example of leading from the front. It did not shy away from the latest trena nor did away with any evil! Really!! The best drama & best TV script was won by “Beyond Evil & not the “Flower of Evil” which has only one award, best TV director!
A tussle ongoing was between Song Joong ki’s fans for his “Vincenzo’ & the ever popular Kim Soo hyun for his ‘It’s okay to not be okay’. But the award went to Shin Ha kyun for ‘Beyond Evil’. The sincerity with which he played the role is well known.
The leading actress in film went to “Call’ Jeon Jong-seo for portraying the scary girl with Park shin hye. She is known for her role in the Korean thriller “Burning’ made in 2018.
The most popular actor award went to Kim Seon-ho, who had surpassed both the leads of “Start Up” & gained immense popularity. For months his fans were sad over his second lead syndrome. I watched his other dramas like “100 days my prince” or “Good Manager’ but his role in “Start Up’ was just superb. It felt like it was tailor made for him!
Yoo Ah-in got the award for Leading actor in film, ‘Voice of Silence’. He is awarded for “Alive’ & ‘Voice of Silence’ in 2020 & 2021. What a feat! Not to forget the final nominations which display his diverse role selection & perfection.
Finally I come to the most under-rated actor of our generation, Lee seung gi who remains low but has fantastic achievements. Male Variety Performer of this year. He is currently in the popular show ,’ Mouse’ which has a steady TRP. One of the most buzz worthy dramas. His “Vagabond’ has left us wanting for more. We need a second season. He is somewhere & Suzy is somewhere else in the deserts! Such an end will never do.
