The Blue Sea…

The deep blue sea or the aqua marine expanse .. we visualise the waters till the horizon with white waves splashing on the beach. ‘The Legend of the Blue sea’ has the seas in various times & in different moods. But then it is the story of the mermaid! It also ends with the lead pair sitting on a bench at the beach looking at the sea.

In the first show that I saw ‘The Perfect Match’ it has the lead pair shopping in the fish market by the sea. Fresh produce is sold & purchased there. For making a five star stew the ingredients need to first class.

The small fishing village is the highlight of “Fated to love you” which appears again in the Chinese version. In “BOF” Geum di disappears to her fishing village. The shack on the beach which serves delicacies in “Lovestruck in the City” has all the good memories.

The sea at Los Angeles in the opening sequence of ‘The Heirs’ & Min ho’s beautiful house overlooking the sea are breathtaking. The main characters also meet on the beach. Min ho watching from the window sipping from his cup. Park shin hye & her sister having a confrontation.

The “Full House ” has the best location by the sea. You step out & literally are on the beach! They ride a bicycle together & share a ride. This scene is repeated in “The Liar & his Lover’, “A love so beautiful’ but it never appears cliche.

The Prince in “Rookie Historian…” dips his feet in the sea for the first time & the CEO of Ansoft confesses his love on the beach in ‘Strong woman …’. The ship abandoned on the lonely beach in “DOTS” can never be forgotten. Those sequences between the leads are so special.

Who can forget the ‘Titanic’ getting plunged into the sea! More than the lead pair or the five star cruiser I believe the mysterious, unfathomable sea makes it memorable! Many a pair get formed on the beaches. Why would a rich boy get introduced to a poor woman tending a bar as in “Saagar”? It has beautiful shades & moods of the sea.

“The Innocent Man” has the most breathtaking spot where the deceit of Kang Maru is revealed for the first time. The leads make it memorable. It is dark when he goes to fetch his sister from the small shack.

In “Chocolate” from the opening sequence of the small restaurant near the sea where the leads meet as children to the ocean in Greece. Then they meet after accepting all their flaws. His wrist is damaged & she can’t smell.

The crashing waves in “Happy once again’ reflect the agitation of losing the ring of the protagonist. She meets him for the first time there. She is trying to retrieve her ring & crying for her cheating boyfriend.

The sea in ‘When the Camellia blooms’ is dark & mysterious as the story. But bright & shining when the pair meets in the daytime or the young boy is walking with his classmates.

The sea or at least a swimming pool in the house or a hotel the pair goes to is a must. The stuffy apartments of “One Spring night” or “Something in the rain’, “My holo Love”, or “Vincenzo’ where he lives in Korea are stifling. Open space & water make it delightful. It seems to be our need.
