A 2016 Hindi feature film which was supposed to be VIdhu Vinod Chopra’s first hollywood film but the producer passed away, the film was shelved. Farhan Akhtar, Aditi Rao Hydari make the lead pair with Amitabh Bachchan reigning supreme over the proceedings. With a song to his credit he brings in his best performance.
John Abraham & Neil Nitin Mukesh in special appearances make an impression. Manav Kaul as Yazaad Qureshi has a pivotal role. It is based on original story by Chopra. A suspended Anti-terrorism Squad officer befriends a chess player who is a wheelchair user.
Having thought of Dustin Hoffman playing the protagonist, after the film was shelved it needed rewriting. For a Hindi film changes were made. Amitabh Bachchan to be wheel chair bound had a major impact. So many wheelchairs were tested before he could use one for long shoots. Special effects for his amputated legs & action scenes that make it unique.
It remains a thriller till the end. The story is gripping. It did well at the box office. A must watch movie.
