A 2016 Marathi film which falls in the genre of comedy/ rom com. I found the story ‘Jara Hatke’. One of the most under rated film by Kanchan Adhikari. With the right publicity it should have been a hit!
With the winsome star cast, truly starry! Subodh Bhave, Kranti Redkar, Priya Marathe, Mohan Joshi with others. A con artist tries to reap benefits by taking on the identity of a man with the same name. But things do not go as she had wished.
When she uses his credit cards, runs to the jungle & bungles the whole plan. Kranti has one of the finest ability of timing. Her potential remains under utilised. Sometimes she does go over board but a subtle approach could have helped. In recent times she is one of those artist who have developed with every film.
Subodh Bhave has the ability to blend in. Being married he manages his distance & learns to live. This aspect of them together in a situation should have been explored. That opportunity is wasted. With some good writing it could have been hirarious. It shows their depth but that’s it.
The Director could have been better with the scenes, where they run or evade getting caught. Finally when the couple celebrate their daughter’s birthday & Kasturi’s in the jail, it could’ve been better. The jailer sitting stiffly & they are cutting the cake was just to much to digest. Marathi films have known to be the best in the industry. We have no shortage of talented people.
With a ‘hatke’ script it should have worked better at the box office.None the less it is enjoyable in parts, but that feeling of something missing remains.
