Around the 14th episode & I wonder how it maintains to entertain. With every episode the characters develop & entertain. No wonder it is labelled as one of the finest shows in Korean drama history!
I almost gave it a miss because of the violence. But for Song Joong ki! then the tight storyline grips you. Without the usual cliche, it moves with a pace only to be admired. Today I read that he did not go to Italy, but it is computer graphics. The scene where he visits the funeral house, there is only a screen. A curtain & in the show he moves through the line of trees & reaches the funeral house with high ceiling… all that is fake! Hats off to the technique & emoting by Song Joong ki!
In the top favourite list, he is at rank 1 but his number one opponent,Ok Taec-yeon is at 8 & Vincenzo’s fellow lawyer, Ms Hong, that is Jeon Yeo-been is steady at number 10. To maintain the top position for so long with the steady rankings is no feat.
In the plaza everyone knows that there is gold hidden in the basement. Without demolishing the building is it possible to take it out is the question. The two brothers in Babel, the two lawyers they have, the many charges they are facing, all of it makes it worth watching.
The trailers were full of the references to western flicks like Money heist or Ocean’s eleven. But the way the Koreans do it is unique. The back stories come as a backdrop. They help us to see the humane side without hindering the flow of the story. The leads are never forgotten. They may not be successful in all their schemes, yet we keep on hoping that small setbacks will make them stronger. Isn’t it irony that we back a lawyer of the Mafia, forgetting that he must have committed crimes himself.
Without sugarcoating it that it was self defence, it will be worthwhile to see how his case is presented. Every moment is energising, so the hour long episode is fun to watch.
