It had been on my list for say.. ages. But I seemed to be too busy with other shows & the suggestion got lost in the heap. Yesterday as I finished Tempted, I was looking for a show that would be interesting. This is what I found!
My loved stars from ‘My love from the star’ Kim Soo hyun & ‘Uncontrollably Fond’ Bae Suzy in a drama which has a start… What a start! A broken home with two daughters, father is in a foreign land to escape the loan sharks. Mother had taken divorce & died later.
Father asks the protagonist, Bae Suzy to look for a person for help. He is none other than the man who did them wrong by seducing their mother. He runs away without taking in the girls. (Why would he take un-necessary responsibility when the father has run away?)
She is confronted by the Loan people & she is asked to go for audition to a reputable school, Kirin Art school. She would train there , Earn for three years & pay off the loan. She signs the documents.
At the audition the teacher fails her. She cannot accept her defeat. So he plays a song on the piano & asks her to recognise. Her friend singing along with her has been selected! She recognises one song which he tells & asks her to recognise the other one! He admits that he has mashed two songs.
When she is wrong, he tells her that he regards those over confident ones third rate, who are talented & know that they are good! She drops on her knees & requests him to help her. What a turnaround!
The panel against open auditions is taken aback. Confidence is one thing but over confidence? The teacher K has to be so talented as to rise to the occasion. Giving the result of pass or fail on the spot is not an easy thing. Known to choose excellent students he shows why.
A 2011 South Korean drama that won awards for the show & the actors who became stars. The shows that followed have taken them to new heights. Their rawness is endearing but the confidence shines through.
