A Marathi Film made in 2014 which follows a determined mother trying to give the best to her daughter, who has Down’s syndrome. Abandoned by her father, Gauri makes her mother & uncle proud by winning a silver at the Olympics.
The film has the National award by the juries.Directed by Mahesh Limaye & produced by Riteish Deshmukh& Uttung Thakur, it had stars like Mrinal Kulkarni, Upendra Limaye, Hrishikesh Joshi, Manoj Joshi, Aishwarya Narkar. Gauri Gadgil plays herself.
Revisiting it again I felt it retains it’s freshness. The topic is so inspirational. A child needs love & security only. When in able hands it can reach unseen heights. The child is doing so well in swimming. But when the mother senses that she is tired always, she suspects that the coach is pushing her beyond her limits. She withdraws her child. But Gauri falls sick because she is used to the water & imagining herself to be ‘Yellow’ her favourite fish!
Unless we test our limits how are we going to diagnose if it is the limit or not? Gauri wins & becomes an inspiration to the others! A life well lived, isn’t that what we aspire??
