Option

A short film written & directed by Shilpa Godbole. It is enacted by veteran actors Mrunal Kulkarni & Sunil Barve. It is only ten minutes long & you wish that it would have been longer.

Mrunal comes to Panshet to visit her husband. She wants his signature to sell the property in Lonavala. He reminds her that long back they had decided to celebrate their 50th anniversary there. But as she is used to having her way, on his own admission, she waits only till he signs.

He is into floriculture & has left his job after working for 20 years. He asks her to have a look at the Jasmines that have bloomed. She has driven from Pune to bring the papers herself. She is wearing a Sari & has mangalsutra. Staying away she is slightly awkward around him. When he brings her a cup of hot brew as she likes, she is touched.

She has her own passion for singing. She had refused to stay away from her singing classes. So she will be busy with ‘Padva Pahat’ in Diwali & he will have his blooms to take care of then.

Their son Abhi has asked them to visit him in Diwali. But both are busy then so she comes up with an option of meeting him for Christmas. Sunil, her husband for more than 20 odd years, is happy to hear it. Upon which he remarks that she will come up with an option to celebrate their 50th anniversary also.

That short meet opens so many possibilities. Each is living with their own choice yet have not forgotten the good times together. The grown son is the bond they live for!
