A 2021 short British film, based on a true story.It is based on a novel by John Preston.Directed by Simon Stone it is easy on the eyes. It has Carey Mulligan, Ralph Fiennes, Lily James, Johnny Flynn with others.
Mrs Pretty employs Basil Brown to excavate the mounds in her land. She is curious about them. On a hunch they decide on one of the mound & it brings out a huge surprise. Now the authorities are curious & want it in their museum.
Edith struggles with health issues. She does not confide but visits her doctor often based in London. She has a son, Robert who is fascinated by Brown, his telescope & tales from all these years.
The story is rich in details & has just the right amount of twists that happen in real life. It is their great achievement that it doesn’t look like a docu film!
Edith decides to donate the treasure to the British museum. he puts in her request to give credit to Brown for his efforts. A note displayed at the end shows that Brown is given the full credit for his work along with Pretty permanently.
