The Beauty Inside

A South Korean Drama with Seo Hyun jin, Lee Min ki,Lee Da hee & Ahn Jae-hyun. I had seen the first episode months ago but had felt no interest. The running away of an actress before the award ceremony did not cause any interest then. As I started with all the beauties around, I decided to go for it! Before I ready myself for the latest ‘True Beauty’.

The story is about the lady who changes every month to a different person for a week. Only her two friends know about it. Being a model & an actress her life is open to speculations. But nobody knows. When she crosses path, with the Airline Director who is also her sponsor, her secret may not remain hidden.

He suffers from not recognising people’s faces, prosopagnosia, due an accident he had. He is unable to recognise his mother when she passes by. His assistant is ever present with him.

There is a mention of Brad Pitt suffering from the same. But I remembered the show where the boss Mr Do asks his secretary to wear her red sweater always.’ The secret life of My secretary’ was about the same disease & the same cause, a car accident. The people around ready to take over by uncovering his secret.

He ensures that she wears a red dress for him to know that she is nearby. Before their flight descends, she changes but he helps her with a blanket. He is aware of her choice of words, her desperation & her smell. Her bag is with him, they meet at the restaurant & she takes her bag. Her face is different but he can recognise her immediately.

He picks up her cell phone that she drops. He unlocks it & goes through her videos. She changes every month is now clear. She tries to test him by visiting him at his office but he knows her. Also saves her from the crowd again, by lending his coat.

It was refreshing to have Ahn Jae-hyun again in the supporting role after ‘My love from the Star’ where we wait naturally for him to appear. It is ages ago that I finished his “Blood” as the lead. I haven’t seen any new projects offered to him.

Lee Tae -ri as Seo Do-jae’s secretary is the ‘Dried squid’ from ‘Extraordinary You’ who is loyal to his boss. He knows about the illness & tries his best to avoid any awkward situations. But more than black, the blonde look suits him.
