The latest film by Renuka Shahane by Devgn Films stars Kajol, Tanvi Azmi & Mithila Palkar. It is the tale of three generations that ends with them coming to terms with their emotional turmoil.
Tanvi Azmi as Nayantara is an award winning writer. She is at home with her characters but falls short as a mother. She has a daughter & a son. Her mother-in-law complains, so she leaves her husband taking along her kids but they don’t get her attention that they deserve.
She marries another man, Vikramaditya & it opens the Pandora’s box. The daughter is abused, leaving her scarred for life. The son chooses to be a bhakta. They gel together but there is no space for the mother.
Kajol as Anu has a child out of wedlock & her daughter suffers because of that. The third man to enter the life of the mother, a painter brings the family together only to drift away as the mother wants marriage & he doesn’t. Kawaljeet in a miniature role but effective as he normally is!
Masha or Mithila Palkar chooses to marry in a joint family. She also goes for sex determination of her foetus for the family. Being fatherless she wants her child to have a secure family.
The entire story is brought together by the writer, Milan, who is recording the events in Nayantara’s life to incorporate them in her biography. She is unable to write now due to arthritis. It ends with Milan giving the first copy to Kajol on her birthday.
