The newsmakers of 2020

There are 7 K drama stars whose popularity skyrocketed last year. The theme was excellent & their show sparkled due to them. They have been in the industry ,but this was the role that measured their potential.

Woo do hwan in his double role in the drama ‘The King: the eternal monarch’ was a permanent shadow of the king, Lee Min ho. His two entirely different personalities were just wow!

Han So Hee in ‘The World of the married’ as the young mistress was noteworthy. Her role required her to be bold, beautiful & at war with the wife. She managed to do all that & yet appear vulnerable & pretty with her small kid! Her popularity skyrocketed as the next episode was aired.

Kim Dami from the “Itaewon class” along with Park seo joon attracted viewers with her acting. Ahn Bo Hyun also from the same show gained a huge fan base. I had seen him earlier in “Her private life” where he plays the second lead as her childhood friend. But having eyes for only Kim Jae wook & Park min young he remained in the shadows.

Kim Seon ho in ‘Start Up’ made people look up & take notice. He was pitted against bankable stars like Bae Suzy & Nam Joo hyuk but the audience found his ‘Good boy’ image better than the lead pair. As he was set aside the dissent among the viewers reach a peak as never before.

Seo yea ji in “It’s okay to not be okay” is perfect so much so that we can’t think of anyone else there! With the heart throb like Kim Soo Hyun she managed to get the attention that her performance deserved. Her costumes were all outrageous & her mannerisms just too rude & you fall for her for just that!

Oh Jung Se as Gang Tae’s autistic elder brother showed his worth. I had seen him earlier in ‘When the Camellia blooms’ as her landlord & having a confident, intelligent lawyer wife. But he was given very little to leave a mark. Two from ‘It’s okay to not be okay’ shows how people received the show & liked their performances.

We are talking of seven people but only five shows that made 2020 worthwhile. The confinement made it possible to watch but the quality matters! With the exception of ‘Itaewon Class’ I have seen all the four mentioned.
