This is a better title than ..Gu Family book! It is the tale of Kang Chi. After almost breezing through 12-16th episode I believe now that the lead pair is safe. Surprisingly his parents have made an appearance.
First his father comes back as the evil spirit & then his mother as the head of the Japanese traders. I am watching the show for them, Lee Seung-gi & Bae Suzy but the regal form of his father is unmistakable! Choi Jin-hyuk in his mystic, elegant look is superb. His hairstyle allows us to see only one eye but that is enough to scare.
Gon in the earlier episodes had a hairstyle that became him, later it changed to a shock of hair that goes well with the costumes but not his character. In the 18th episode where Bae Suzy to talking with Yoo Yeon-seok, who is her fiance, Kang Chi is pained to look at them. As he turns away he meets Gon who tells him that the lady will never be with him! Before Kang Chi, Gon had a chance which he has lost. His feelings will remain unexpressed.
Jo Sung ha as Dam Pyeong has a better role than his earlier’ 100 days My Prince’ where he was scary & bloodthirsty. His role here has grace as the Master of the training school.
Yoon Se-Ah as Yoon Seo-hwa is the beautiful mother to Kang Chi. She abandons her child to look for him after 20 years. She also betrays her husband for being a mystical creature.
Do-gyung Lee as the teacher Gong & one of the four pillars is kind & a real teacher to Kang Chi.He has that kind face that never ceases to amaze.
Jin Kyeong as Bae Suzy’s teacher to help her learn to be a good wife. Her appearance is different so it was difficult to recognise her. In ‘Uncontrollably Fond’ she is mother to Kim Woo bin & has a few interesting scenes with Bae Suzy.
Coming to an end it maintains the twists & turns of a good show.
