Also known as ‘Kang Chi, the beginning’ is a historical drama about a half man & half monster who is in search of a centuries -old book that contains the secret to becoming human.
Lee seung-gi as Choi Kang chi is a lovable character. His parents are no more & his name is given by the steward at Lord Park’s Century House. Kang chi assumes the duty of protecting the house at all costs.
Bae Suzy as Dam Yeo-wool is a Martial art instructor at her father’s school. She was saved by Kang chi when they were young. She was attacked by a dog & Kang chi put his arm & patted it. She has never forgotten him. When they meet in their youth he has forgotten the incident.
In “Blood” when the little girl is saved by the boy on Jeju island. Later both meet in the hospital as doctors. She is still waiting for the boy but he doesn’t recognise her. He is a Vampire & she is the niece of the administrator. It is a given that she will inherit the hospital. Her parents die but she survives.
After “Vagabond” I found that this drama was the first where the lead pair worked together. Naturally I had to see it. When the opening episodes showed Choi Jin-hyuk as Gu Wol-ryung, the guardian of Mt Jiri who falls for a human. He marries her & then has a son, Kang chi! But by then both have died.
It is a tragic tale. I hope it becomes better with finding the Gu family book. It is fast paced till now & the villains are many. So our hero has his work cut out for him.
