Another short film by Nandita Das shows why it’s wrong to assume that women are safe at home. When she gets a call, ‘Bahut dard ho raha hai Didi..’. Her eyes are on the lap top & she is answering the phone. She automatically says ,’Wrong Number!’
Instead of the helpline this woman has given a call to Nandita. But now she cannot ignore her. She gives the number to the police & hears her out.
In this film, Nandita emphasises on domestic violence & women being overburdened. She herself is working from home, looking after her child & looking after her demanding husband. She is to attend the doorbell now . The man from Nasik is to deliver mangos at her place. Finally she decides to hear what the woman has to say & asks her husband to attend the door.
Those 7 minutes give you a slice of life that is unknown to us. “The Relationship Manager” is also about the same theme. But actors like Anup Soni & Divya Dutta have made it memorable. If Nandita made us uncomfortable ,the other team made us cry with them.
