Ludo

A Hindi film by Anurag Basu. It is a dark comedy with four pairs & a gangster Pankaj Tripathi who meddles or facilitates their stories. The stories independently could have stood on their own but their convergence brings in a lot to deal with.

With the bold & beautiful in place it is in your face. Sometimes it feels this could have been subtle but the graphic details are unnecessarily there. The web series could have bold subjects but the picturisation can be sensitive.

Abhishek Bachchan with his eyes can speak volumes. His scenes with the child actor are nicely done. If I felt something from ‘Yuva’ he must have felt like going over the same emotions again. After the blasts & gun fire everybody is intact not him. Why?

Rajkumar Rao in his “Mithun style” deserves a round of applause. One of the finest actors we have today. With his looks he is able to blend into any character. After Pinky comes again & again with her child, we get irritated but not him!

Aditya Roy Kapoor, the poor lover boy with a heart of gold is not able to win her but is eager to help her nonetheless. Their journey albeit predictable has too many hurdles. Sanya Malhotra dazzles but needs better roles than this.

Rohit with Pearle are on the run with a bag full of cash. Their transformation is superb. They need more screen space in the next.

Pankaj Tripathi is his usual self. Unbending, un ruffled & appearing when you least expect! But the total effect is not so good. The stories could have gelled better or the characters could have been fleshed out well.
