A 2017 film with Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson is a wonderful film. Its under two hours which makes it more effective. A boy with facial deformity, Auggie Pullman, has been home schooled. Now he is admitted to a normal school & struggles to find friends. His elder sister finds herself neglected as the parents are busy with Auggie.
It is his story along with the entire family that copes up with the changes taking place around them.Based on a book it remains true to the script. His story till his graduation takes all the twists & turns that we have come to expect & some not so expected. His friends, Jack will, Summer are a delight.
Via’s friend Miranda has suddenly become cool with pink hair & new friends. The drama group gives her the necessary thrust & also a boyfriend. Their play gives her the confidence that she had but never experienced.
Mandy Patinkin as Mr Tushman has a small yet significant role. Only if all teachers looked upon their work like him! He is known for his role in “Homeland” series & has reached every household.
A beautiful experience. Gradually we get used to the face. People staring at you & your touch as spreading “the plague”! Who does it? & at this age? But he loves Halloween more than christmas!
Jack suggests , “Why don’t you have plastic surgery?” He says,”This is the face after plastic surgery!” & moves his hand through his hair arrogantly.
It’s to be seen to believe it.
