With Konkona Sen sharma & Bhumi Pednekar enjoying themselves on the poster I braced myself for a girlie drama. It handles more issues than I had thought of but I still came out unsatisfied because I expected more!
They are cousins & Bhumi comes to Noida in search of a job. Konkona has two school going kids but she is generally not satisfied with life! Did people in the good old days expect less & had a good time? Today do we crave for more & are less satisfied?
We have probably lost this sense of wants & needs? Plus we are unaware of what we truly want! We lust for something & don’t care of the consequences? Have we really thought of the effect our behaviour has on the next generation/
Taking in drugs or consumption of alcohol are these the ways to relieve stress? I have never empathized with ‘Devdas’! Why lose oneself in a bottle? What about the rest of the family members? Don’t they matter?? One wrong step by Devdas brings down the entire family!
The sisters choose a different path but is that the right way? Is it practical to lose oneself in the pleasures of the flesh? It is one of the most important things but certainly not the only Thing in life? Do we let it become bigger than ourselves?
In the final scene there is this shower of bullets are lives are lost unnecessarily. Closure could have been better than this. When the finish is not thought of seriously it leads to an hotchpotch end. Some courage was needed to bring in a good end. Ekta Kapoor has the ability to bring in change, she should have thought it through!
To bring in issues swept under the carpet required courage but only bold, brash wouldn’t do. It needs more thought to it! Like “Queen” which brought in a new thought, may be not satisfying but certainly good enough to sit up & take notice!
