A 2009 Film that has a subject relevant at any age. It holds true today & will be so years later. The cast comprises of Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Raaz, Arjun Mathur, Tannishtha Chatterjee & others. It is a story of three poor people who wish to earn & improve their lifestyle.
Naseer is a driver, Vijay Raaz A watchman & Arjun Mathur a waiter. They share a room in the slum area. Nasser is continuously irritated by the behaviour of his master’s wife. Vijay’s son is having typhoid & requires 5000 urgently. Arjun has a Italian costumer ,Kate who is nice to him & he wants to give her money because she says she is in a tight spot!
The need to earn & earn quickly leads to their entry in the world of crime. They hit upon the idea of kidnapping & asking for ransom.They are successful in a few cases but when Naseer decides to kidnap his master’s wife to teach her a lesson, all plans go haywire.
It is a short film with a tight plot & gives us an honest glimpse of the’ haves ‘ & the ‘have nots’!
“Anna’ is the old currency in India. Today the ‘Char Anna’ or the ‘Barah Anna ‘ have no value. But it shows the wants being so small & yet they are unable to rise above their present condition. It is well written & executed so it ends as easily as it began. The conclusions are left to us!
