I had seen a few scenes but never seen it full & yesterday after years it has the ability to amaze. The three prisoners that Juhi Chawla choses to interview are on a death row. They have killed a person & yet in their story we find new angles. As her story gets entangled it becomes more interesting.
Every one has his own story. Nagesh Kukunoor is wrongly accused of pushing his wife in front of a car. But she has died & her father wants him punished. Jackie Shroff has killed his wife & wants his punishment. He has loved his wife & yet when she is planning to run away he has killed her in his rage!
Nasiruddin Shah is a petty criminal. He goes to loot a bank & accidently kills the cashier, who is about to deliver twins. He is a regular at the jail. The custodian ,Gulshan Grover in a different role ,is trying to bring change in the condition of the inmates.
In the end all the stories get connected & the end comes as a surprise! After a very long long time I saw a film that did not disappoint. Nasiruddin is a real charmer. Behind bars & yet he has the guts to ask Juhi if they had met in different circumstances, did he have a chance! She ignores him & walks away.
Juhi in a different role & looking so fresh! She should have been getting more of such work rather than the usual song & dance routine. This film has no song & no running around the trees. Surprisingly the violence is implied & not shown, so that is another plus!
Kudos to Kukunoor for an excellent film!
