Aadat

A short film which has a young couple not so happy with life in the opening scene. Both are employed so have a good support system in the form of friends who give good advise. He is asked to go to Delhi for the sales pitch & he just informs her on the telephone.

She is happy that she has the entire house for herself & discovers that the water dripping or the clock chiming are noises at night. She is still restless & unable to sleep so rings him up. He wakes up & talks to her. Goes off to sleep & starts snoring.

She keeps the cell going & falls asleep hearing him snore. ‘Aadat’ truly we aren’t even aware of so many habits we have! We think of them just part of our lives! Remembered ‘Pushpak’ where Kamal Hasan is unable to fall asleep due to the silence in the five star hotel. He makes a tape of the noises from his house where he has a cinema hall & only then is able is have a sound sleep.

I can totally understand, we had these twin theatres, Circle & Vikas near our house. After 10 pm in the night you could hear the music & the voices. They weren’t clear but you could make out the mood. When the end was near, the vendors outside would make noises of their cups -saucers & a fresh batch of ‘Batata vada’ would be fried!
