The 80s Hindi movie seen by almost all of us, still retains the magic of those times! Yesterday watching it again gave me the same pleasure of the olden age. Shabana sparkles & Nasir is his younger self. The innocent kid, Jugal Hansraj looks the same, endearing. Today he has a son just like his old self!
Urmila acts & looks just like she did later as a heroine in ‘Chamatkar’ or ‘Narsimha’. She was brilliant in ‘Rangeela’, ‘China gate’ & ‘Satya’. Shekhar Kapoor knew his stars so well. All of them were successful in their next ventures.
Supriya Pathak & Tanuja in their miniscule roles stand out. We regret their so less screen time. Saeed Jaffrey in his unique style made Mr Suri immortal. His role was just perfect. Nobody could have done it better.
It is based on Erich Segal’s Man, Woman & child written in 1980.The film won the best critics award.Nasiruddin Shah for the best actor & RD Burman for his music. Gulzar for ‘Tujhse naraz nahi zindagi’ & singer Aarti Mukherji for ‘Do naina ek kahani’.
The film raised certain questions in the mind like what if the woman had an affair & had a child? What if it was a girl child?? If it happened in life of an individual what then? Would such a child have a home?? Would the man be man enough to accept the child??
“Gharkul’ Marathi movie made in 1970 had put forth this theme. The Marathi industry was way ahead of the group of movies made then.’Pappa sanga kunache’ was very popular then. The movie also tackled with the children growing up as teens in college & their attraction.
