Around the 19 episode I realized why it couldn’t end with 16 episodes. Trash & Na Jung are going strong but their wedding has to be postponed because of the financial crisis. The economy is at it’s lowest, people are losing jobs & she gets a job but she is posted overseas. I found a very common reaction here. ‘No, you are not going!’ but TRash thinks again & asks her to go & that he will wait.
The long distance relationship takes its toll & they drift apart. So after two years she is back from Australia, but Trash is not in her life. Just then Chilbong comes back from Japan & is in Seoul before he flies to the US. He goes for the car learning licence test but fails.She is trying to drive in the city with him.She is parking the vehicle after a nerve wrecking ride, her mother rings up to say that her father is injured & she needs to go. She is waiting for a taxi which is unavailable. Chilbong then takes the car keys & drives her to the hospital.
He has the driving licence & was with her to spend more time. As they are waiting outside the OT he confesses that he likes her from the moment he set his eyes on her for the first time! She is speechless. As he is leaving to go home they are waiting for the lift. The door opens to reveal Trash very tired & all three just look at each other, door closes. Then all three of them are shown sitting alone & doing some thinking!
The hospital & the injury is going to play a major part it seems. What I failed to understand is that if you know each other for more than 20 years, after coming back wasn’t it natural to ring up? After finding that he has a girlfriend or that he has lost interest is fine but just losing touch & that is the reason! I don’t buy it.
What I found novel is that I had seen shows with getting together or thinking of a serious relationship but having thoughts about working or being a housewife ,which normally one faces, was refreshing. That is what I had liked in ‘Something in the Rain” when Son Ye jin decides to remain in Korea & not tag along to the States!
Last two episodes yet to go. I know who is the groom but actual decision will be important.
