A 1999 Hindi film. A psychological thriller. Tanuja Chandra has said that it is based on a Indian police case & refused to being based on ‘Silence of the Lambs’. Ashutosh Rana in another nerve wrenching role. He got the Filmfare for the best Villain award for this role. His eyes play the major part of being huge, scary & in sync with the role!( I wonder how he sleeps at night!)

Preity Zinta as CBI officer Reet Oberoi is sent to Mumbai to know the whereabouts of one Lajja Shankar Pandey. He is a wanted criminal. She then meets Akshay Kumar, Professor Aman Verma who leads her to the criminal. Interestingly the professor is in jail but knows everything that the police don’t know!

Aman Verma as Amit, Reet’s boyfriend has a tiny role. He is looking after her granny in her absence & looking forward to her return patiently. Alia Bhatt as the young Reet looks adorable. She must have waited for years to be cast in Chandra’s ‘Raazi’ or Chandra did! Her second venture after ‘Dushman’ in 1998. But this was a commercial success.

Reet has a phobia for darkness from childhood ,which she overcomes while saving the child from the villian with Aman Verma’s help. That struggle was within herself but she comes out victorious!
