Sangeeta Bijlani won her Miss India title in 1980. She was the face of the Ponds dreamflower talc. She was with a child model running on a beach. She was a much sought after model then. She refused many films at that time. 1960 born in Mumbai in a Sindhi family.
She began modelling from 16 & worked for many commercials along with Nirma & Ponds.In 1987 she worked in ‘Quatil’ opposite Aditya Pancholi. Then went on to give blockbusters like ‘Tridev’,’Hathyar’,’Yodha’,’Jurm’ opposite Vinod Khanna, for which she had the nomination of the best supporting actress.
In 1986 she was dating Salman Khan but it came to an end. In 1996 she married cricketer Mohd. Azharuddin at the Taj hotel in Mumbai.It ended in 2010 in divorce due to his affair with badminton player Jwala Gutta,which was denied by the player.
She had a brief stint with television but did not make an impact.A talent which could have been but did not quite make it. When we watch ‘Tridev’ she is good & with more films she can improve is the impression you get, but it was not to be unfortunately. I regret such memorable faces now in oblivion who failed to make it.
