Inkaar

It is a 2013 film. Inkaar means denial. A Sudhir Mishra film starring Arjun Rampal & Chitrangada Singh in the lead roles. It deals with sexual harassment in a corporate setup. Arjun Rampal is accused of sexual harassment by his own prodigee, Chitrangada.A committee is set up to investigate. Deepti Naval in yet another good role. Very rare but impressive roles of hers never fail to entertain & satisfy.

Kawaljeet Singh in Rampal’s father’s role has very little to do. But the main sentence, “Jo chaho woh haasil karo” Did he advice for animate or inanimate objects?

Yes the climax is surprising when he acknowledges that he loves her! For a film & for getting a twist ok. But in real life don’t we realise what is love & what is not? If it is love shouldn’t it be expressed? if not, let go gracefully!

The ladies have a sixth sense I strongly believe, they can distinguish between a bad touch & a good touch! Agreed both were at war for the top position but the settlement could have been in a amicable way!

Formerly they are in a close relationship when they visit her mother in shimla. Rehana Sultana in a blink & miss role but she has the most impressive dialogues.’Tum mujhe milne aayi ya use mujhse milne aayi? ‘ So true! As they are leaving she has this advice,’Ladka accha hai par tujhse shaadi nahi karega!’ How telling!

Such a mother’s daughter does not understand her lover if he loves or not. Is he afraid of commitment? Instead of crying ‘Sexual harassment’ & dragging their names through the mud there are ways to find the truth. Can’t you figure if the incidents shown only point to one emotion? If you can’t get help & stat!

I was totally not happy at the end. First I thought it was gripping like ‘Corporate’ or the injustice like in ‘Fashion’. Then I thought it better be more than ‘Aitraz’. The denial no means no like in ‘Pink’ & then probably the balloon burst I wanted more.

There is a Pakistani series of the same name.

In the film, Inkaar made in 1977 had Vinod Khanna, Vidya Sinha, Dr Shriram Lagoo, Amjad Khan. It is a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s ‘High & low’ japanese film. Music by Rajesh Roshan was the highlight. The song picturised on Helen ,’O Mungada, Mungada’ by Usha mangeshkar is popular even today. An all time hit!
