It was as expected. It finished with all the loose ends tied. In the final scenes the protagonist remembers her lane & the houses lined up deserted long ago. She says it was a celebration of youth. Ours no doubt but for our parents who were so young & bigger than us then. I would like to go there only to enjoy our get togethers.It was good. Right? Reply 1988!
When asked from when did you like her? Her husband is very clear about it. She thinks it must be in 1989 or 1994. But he remembers shifting to this area & getting accepted by his friends. He gets carried by her. 1976. He falls from his bicycle & breaks his arm.Then he falls & gets a cut on his forehead. He cries & she cries harder because it’s her fault. Both of them are shown holding hands & fast asleep.1979.
His Go game championships give him money but he is steadfast about his liking. So many girls are after him but naturally he has eyes only for one girl! He misses schooling but matures while travelling to places. He can drive the car but cannot park. He can earn to but branded sneakers but can’t tie the shoelaces. The stress make him dependent on the sleeping pills & smoking. He kicks off his habit after marriage. But smokes.
The older actors have been perfect for the role. You can see how well they have aged. Having them at the end of the episode not each one made it more special! 30 years on in 2006 they are facing an interview & reflecting on the childhood gone by. The moments to be cherished are gone. The memories are equally sweet.
