Going to my you tube friends I found them very sad about the end. I went over the end & am now prepared. But the events hold the answer! The moment he knows & is clear about his feelings he should have expressed himself. Meeting the girl every day was another plus. They rode the same bus. When he becomes aware of his competitor is the time to gather speed & forge ahead. He looks defeated there. The lead should have been made use of.
When Taek is interested he realises he has a competitor. His own friend! He decides to hold back. In 1994 when the feelings are just the same, timetested, he decides to move ahead. He reaches the concert when he realises that she has been dumped by her so-called friend. After a match he is tired, but shifting your priorities is a must in certain situations. He reaches the main entrance, breathless.
The other one is watching a movie when he comes to know that she has nobody to go with her. He rushes out. This should have been done earlier in life! Knowing when to make haste & when to hold back is all about life! He speeds up in his car,but meets all the red signals on the way. When he reaches Taek has already made it! He then blames the signals & the bad timing. Finally comes to term with fate. He then acknowledges that he had number of opportunities but his hesitation cost him the loss.
Determination, perseveration, dedication in reaching the goal is needed in life. I was quite comfortable with the events. One that I knew this was coming & second let the best man win! When I had thought it would be Park Bo gum there were no chances & I thought probably I was just thinking aloud! He barely had any scenes. He was busy in his routine with matches all over from China, Japan to Busan.
He also withdraws from the next schedule which he had never done. He apologizes his opponents & stays. Knowing what to do, how to go about it shows patience. Which he has plenty. Again when he decides to go forward he meets his friend in the academy to ensure if he has any feelings. I found that really praiseworthy. A subject so sensitive & they are talking of their common childhood friend was a remarkable feat!
With references to the Stevie Wonder song, “I just called to say I love you” brought in nostalgia. “Dirty Dancing’ or “Forest Gump’ are all the movies of those times that I saw much later. We had to wait for movies to come to town & also had to have permission to go watch with suitable company!
Into the final episode now, a good closure I feel. Kudos to the entire team who put in so much effort to revisit those times. For a change the supporting cast is so good, we don’t wait for it to end. The ladies gossip but the story moves with their talk. It is carried forward by the gentlemen who bring in their own fears & fights.
